I could get all verbose now about Day 3 but it was essentially a case of Nailing it up the M5 & M6 from Torquay to Manchester. We meandered through the Cotswold’s and had planned on stopping in Cheltenham until a ‘War of the Worlds’ style cloud arrived on the scene.
We spent an hour outrunning that cloud and managed to dodge most of the rain until we were within 7 miles of home, at which point we got dumped on big time! It was as if the weather was having a last laugh. In that final 30 minutes we were drenched to the point where we would have been drier standing in the bathroom shower.
The gear took 3 days to fully dry out. Truly a horrible summer so far in blighty
