We had breakfast and packed up early today. We had a lot of ground to cover most of which was going to be mountainous. We said Auf Weidersehen to a misty Enzoklosterle and enjoyed the cool morning air. There is something very Hänsel und Gretel about the Black forest.

Our goal today was to ride south to Konstanz, ride alongside Bodensee before rising up into the hills before descending into the most westerly Austrian region of Voralberg and the town of Feldkirch. Amazingly we would take in 4 countries on this day. Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria.

The cool air soon became bone chilling and we took refuge in that pinacle of Swiss Cuisine. Yep a McDonalds… what? So we warmed up while at the same time taking advantage of the free wifi. Aside from emails we used it to upload the photos from the past few days. A swiss guy came over and said that he had a KTM and had spotted our bikes in the car park. Asked us where we had come from and where we were going. When he heard that we were going to tackle the Arlberg pass in Austria he was dismissive and said it wasn’t possible at this time of year. We would come to learn on many occasions that local knowledge is not always correct and is often on the overly cautious side.
